Destination – the Barossa, a world renowned wine region in South Australia

You’ll find the Barossa Weintal Hotel in the small township of Tanunda.

Located an hour’s scenic drive from Adelaide in the quiet, peaceful surroundings of the Barossa, the Barossa Weintal Hotel is close by some of Australia’s most famous wineries and vineyards. Tanunda is known for being the heart and soul of the Barossa, filled with distinct church spiers, cafes, restaurants, wineries and boutique shops.

A town with a population of around 4,000, Tanunda is rich with German heritage dating back to 1868. You will find stunning architecture lining the streets with its original buildings of dark ironstone, remains from the early settlers.

The Barossa Weintal Hotel makes an ideal base for our self-drive travellers to explore the Barossa and its historical attractions. Visit boutique cellar doors and sample some local wines, for those without a car or that don’t feel like driving, book a unique wine tour or consider a private wine tasting. Some local wineries are within walking distance from the hotel, including Peter Lehmann Wines, Langmeil and Auswan Creek.

For those those looking for action, consider taking in the picturesque views by bike. Create your own itinerary or make use of the Jack Bobridge Cycle Track. The 40km sealed track leads from Angaston to Gawler and passes through Nurioopta, Tanunda and Lyndoch. Ask our friendly staff at reception about bike hire. If you’d prefer a bird’s eye view of the stunning vineyards, consider a hot-air balloon ride or take an unforgettable helicopter flight over the Valley, just don’t forget your camera.

Due to its lush green surroundings, the Barossa is home to various golf courses. Visitors are welcome at the Barossa Golf Club and its par 72 course, Tanunda Pines surrounded by Jacob’s creek and St Hallett wineries as well as Sandy Creek featuring an 18-hole course.

Defined by its culture of food, wine and hospitality, the Barossa is recognised for not only the award winning wine it produces, but also gourmet food providores. The Barossa Farmers Markets are held every Sunday morning, near Angaston, showcasing local produce from local growers. You will find the Barossa steeped in tradition with butchers and bakeries on almost every main street.

An ideal getaway with just the right amount of relaxation, fun and adventure. We look forward to seeing you next time you visit the Barossa.
